SAN FRANCISCO - Two business owners are being sued for importing and attempting to sell items containing ivory.

The San Francisco District Attorney's Office filed a lawsuit on Jan. 25 in the San Francisco Superior Court against Kuraya Antiques, Tsuyoshi Lee Ito and Yuka Ito for violation of unfair competition law.

According to the lawsuit, between Jan. 24, 2020, and Feb. 27, 2020, the defendants imported and possessed with the intent to sell at least 13 items containing ivory, therefore violating the Fish and Game Code Section 2022(b) and Penal Code Section 653o.

The DA seeks a permanent injunction enjoining defendants from engaging in unfair competition, an assessment of a civil penalty and cost of suit. ADA Alexandra Grayner filed the suit.
