Law firms can outsource jobs to better utilize their resources within the firm. These outsourced jobs include research, discovery, data collection, client outreach and document drafting.
An industry has emerged around this process, with different companies specializing in providing different services for law firms.
"A record retrieval service or services that we provide for various clients are really focused on the retrieval of medical and legal documentation from various constituents throughout the entire process," Peak Outsourcing Vice President of Client Services James Reynolds told the Northern California Record. "Where we support the actual attainment of those files for different legal firms or organizations that support legal firms to ensure that these all necessary paperwork is in and filed, and we're orientated properly to help with various proceedings and what have you."
Individual freelance lawyers also become involved in this process, not only big outsourcing companies. The website LawClerk, authored a summary of every kind of role that is able to be outsourced as well as the litigation expertise of each role. Roles include data and record retrieval, memo and writ drafting, petitions and research items.
Most companies have a particular specialty. Peak Outsourcing zones in on legal and health industry documents. Meanwhile Legal Support World specializes in technology solutions and the Russell Consulting Group handles marketing and the business end of a law firm. Almost all tasks performed by a law firm can be outsourced to outside companies with the exception of legal representation in court.
As a law firm is growing outsourcing at least some jobs performed by the firm can save money and time.
