Greenberg Traurig attorneys Nikki E. Dobay, DeAndré R. Morrow, and Shail P. Shah are set to speak at the 2023 Council on State Taxation (COST) Forums on U.S. State and Local Taxes for European Companies in London, England June 20 and Frankfurt, Germany June 22.

Over the course of both forums, Dobay, Morrow, and Shah will speak on panels regarding U.S. state and local tax law. Morrow will speak on a panel titled “State Sales and Use Taxes – No … they are not VATs,” Shah will speak on “State Income– Understanding the Concepts of Apportionment and Sourcing,” and Dobay will speak on a panel titled “State Income Taxes – Jurisdiction to Impose Income Taxes and Methods of Reporting/Filing Tax Returns.” Dobay will also be speaking on the “Ask the Experts” panel in London, and Shah will be speaking on the same panel in Frankfurt.

Dobay is nationally known for her deep experience and understanding of state tax policy and the legislative process. She also advises her clients on sophisticated multistate tax issues as well as the consequences and planning opportunities related to corporate mergers and acquisitions transactions and oversees state and local tax controversy matters, ranging from audits to appellate litigation, and involving sales and use taxes, income and franchise taxes, property taxes, and constitutional issues.

Shah has been helping clients address California tax problems for more than 15 years. His clients range from Fortune 25 companies to high-net-worth individuals. Shah focuses his practice on complex California tax planning and representation in front of the California Franchise Tax Board, California Department of Taxation and Fee Administration, Office of Tax Appeals, Board of Equalization, and various administrative and judicial adjudicating forums at both the state and local levels. He provides advice on both proactive residency planning and residency audit defense.

Morrow focuses his practice on state and local tax issues, including Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia taxes. He has counselled clients on a wide range of state and local tax matters including sales and use, income, property, franchise, motor fuel, documentary transfer, and transient occupancy taxes. Morrow represents clients before state and local tax agencies at the audit, collection, appeals and litigation stages.
