Jewish Legal News, Inc. has filed a lawsuit against U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), alleging that the agencies have refused to release public information regarding potential Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists entering the U.S. via the southern border with Mexico.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco, claims that CBP and ICE have violated the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by withholding these records.

According to the complaint, the online news magazine Jewish Legal News allegedly is seeking the documents to inform the public about government responses to issues within Jewish communities in the U.S., Israel and worldwide.

The plaintiffs say the lawsuit was filed in response to an official warning from CBP about possible encounters with Hamas and Hezbollah militants at the U.S. Southwest border with Mexico.

Despite this warning, CBP and ICE have allegedly failed to substantively respond to Jewish Legal News' FOIA request for related records.

The plaintiffs are represented in the case by attorney Mark L. Javitch, of Javitch Law Office, of San Mateo.
