Luxury pet daycare operator, Wag Hotels, is facing a class action lawsuit for allegedly falsely advertising its services.

The plaintiff, Jack Piper, accuses the company of promising a high-end experience for pets while frequently returning them to their owners in poor condition.

Wag Hotels, which operates in several locations across California, offers amenities such as private rooms, play areas, and spa treatments for dogs and cats. However, the lawsuit alleges that these claims are far from reality and that pets often suffer severe mistreatment during their stay.

The case has been filed in San Francisco County Superior Court by attorneys L. Timothy Fisher, Brittany S. Scott, and Jenna L. Gavenman, from the firm of Bursor & Fisher P.A., of Walnut Creek. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Piper and all other pet owners who have used Wag Hotels' services.

The U.S pet daycare market was valued at $1.12 billion USD in 2021 and is expected to reach $2.02 billion USD by 2030, according to a report from Grandview Research cited in the complaint.

The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified actual, compensatory, statutory, and punitive damages, plus attorney fees.
