Joseph Reeve has filed a personal injury complaint against Juan Pablo Gonzalez Gutierrez and several unnamed defendants, identified as Does 1 through 10. The complaint was filed on May 15, 2024, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento.

According to the court documents, Reeve alleges that on February 8, 2024, he was driving southbound on Hazel Avenue entering the on-ramp of westbound Highway 50 in Sacramento County when Gutierrez, driving in an adjacent lane, suddenly merged into his lane without warning. This action resulted in a collision that caused injuries and damages to Reeve. The plaintiff asserts that Gutierrez and the unnamed defendants were either owners or operators of the vehicle involved in the incident and were acting within their employment scope at the time.

Reeve's complaint further claims that Gutierrez and Does 1 through 5 negligently hired, trained, and supervised Does 6 through 10. He argues that this negligence contributed to the accident. Additionally, Reeve accuses all defendants of negligent entrustment, management, maintenance, operation, repair, manufacturing, and design of the vehicle involved in the collision.

As a result of these alleged actions and failures by the defendants, Reeve states he suffered significant personal injuries leading to both economic and non-economic damages. The economic damages cited include past and future medical expenses, loss of income or earning capacity, loss of ability to provide household services, incidental costs related to property damage or loss of use. Non-economic damages encompass physical and mental suffering both past and future, loss of enjoyment of life, physical impairment, inconvenience, anxiety, and emotional distress.

Reeve is seeking judgment for noneconomic damages exceeding the jurisdictional limit of the court along with compensation for all medical expenses incurred due to the incident. He also seeks reimbursement for lost earnings according to proof presented during trial. Furthermore, he requests prejudgment interest as permitted by law alongside all legal costs associated with pursuing this lawsuit.

The case is being handled by attorneys Ryan L. Dostart and Samual L.C. Dollar from Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood Campora LLP. The presiding judge over this matter is yet to be named but will be from the Superior Court of California in Sacramento County under Case No: 44CewWOORSs13S.
