Misty Edwards has filed a lawsuit against Western Dental Services, Inc. and Dr. Mike Ming Chen, DDS, alleging dental negligence and violation of California's Health & Safety Code. The complaint was filed on September 23, 2024, in the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara.

The case centers around alleged improper dental care provided to Misty Edwards by Western Dental Services and Dr. Mike Ming Chen. According to the complaint, Edwards visited Western Dental Services in Salinas, California, on November 3, 2022, with a treatment plan that involved extracting all her teeth and replacing them with All-on-Four implants and implant-supported dentures. However, she claims that the dental procedures performed were negligent and resulted in significant harm. The plaintiff asserts that maxillary implants placed by Dr. Chen led to right maxillary sinusitis and malpositioned implants, which were not discovered until a CT scan on February 12, 2024.

Edwards alleges that the defendants failed to provide necessary care and skill during her treatment, leading to pain, suffering, embarrassment, and an inability to eat comfortably due to ill-fitting dentures. She contends that this negligence has necessitated further medical and dental reconstruction efforts.

Additionally, Edwards accuses Western Dental Services of violating Section 123100 et seq. of the Health & Safety Code by failing to provide complete copies of her dental records despite multiple requests made between June and August 2024. This alleged non-compliance has compounded her damages.

In her lawsuit, Misty Edwards seeks general damages according to proof for medical expenses related to the alleged negligence as well as loss of earnings due to her inability to work following the dental procedures. She also demands attorney’s fees for violations of Health & Safety Code §123100 et seq., prejudgment interest pursuant to Civil Code §3291, costs incurred from the suit itself, incidental expenses, and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Misty Edwards are attorneys Mark J. Zanobini and Renata L. Bogomolnaya from the Law Office of Mark J. Zanobini PC alongside Edwin J. Zinman DDS JD Inc., while no specific legal representation is mentioned for Western Dental Services or Dr. Mike Ming Chen at this time. The case is being overseen under Case No. 240V447877 in Santa Clara County's Superior Court.
