Cheryl Troup, a former employee of a California-based company, has filed a lawsuit alleging unlawful employment practices including discrimination and wrongful termination. The complaint was lodged by Troup on January 21, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara against Jetty Extracts, also known as Ametrine Wellness.

The case details a troubling narrative where Troup accuses her former employer of multiple violations. After six years of exemplary service, she claims she was unlawfully terminated while on documented medical leave. According to the complaint, Troup began experiencing health issues shortly after returning from vacation in July 2024. Despite notifying her supervisor and taking approved sick leave, she faced dismissive behavior from management upon her return. Her condition worsened, leading to an extended medical leave supported by a doctor's note until October 6, 2024. However, on August 28, 2024, Troup was terminated under the pretext of "job abandonment," despite adhering to all medical leave protocols.

Troup's allegations extend beyond wrongful termination; she accuses Jetty Extracts of retaliation for reporting workplace misconduct and discrimination based on age, race, gender, and sexual orientation. As a 66-year-old African American lesbian woman, Troup asserts that these factors contributed to her discriminatory treatment and eventual dismissal. The lawsuit cites violations under several laws including the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

In her pursuit of justice, Troup seeks reinstatement with full back pay and benefits along with compensatory damages for emotional distress. She also demands punitive damages aimed at deterring future unlawful conduct by the defendants. Additionally, she requests attorney’s fees and costs alongside prejudgment and post-judgment interest.

Representing Cheryl Troup is Dylan Hackett from The Hackett Law Firm. The case is being overseen by Judge L. Ayala under Case No.: 25CV456989.
