In a dramatic legal filing, several individuals have come forward with serious allegations against a major transportation company, claiming that the company's culture and practices have led to widespread harm. On March 11, 2025, a group of plaintiffs identified as Jane Doe NLG 87 through Jane Doe NLG 93 filed a complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, against Uber Technologies Inc., Rasier LLC, and Rasier-CA LLC. The lawsuit accuses these entities of negligence and other violations leading to physical and emotional harm.

The plaintiffs allege that they were assaulted by drivers affiliated with the defendants' ride-sharing platform. They argue that the company fostered a toxic culture prioritizing growth over safety, particularly endangering female passengers. The complaint outlines how Uber was aware as early as 2014 of assaults by its drivers but failed to implement adequate safety measures. "Uber’s response to these ongoing sexual assaults by Uber drivers has been slow and inadequate," the complaint states, emphasizing the company's failure to protect its customers.

The lawsuit claims that despite public acknowledgments of safety issues, including Uber's own U.S. Safety Report published in December 2019, the company did not take sufficient action to prevent further incidents. The plaintiffs assert that they were misled into believing their rides would be safe due to Uber's marketing campaigns promoting safety features and background checks for drivers. However, they allege these assurances were false and misleading.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages for general negligence, negligent hiring and supervision, common carrier negligence, intentional misrepresentation, among other claims. They demand punitive damages and a jury trial to address their grievances against Uber's practices which they argue show "wanton and reckless disregard" for passenger safety.

Representing the plaintiffs are attorneys John Raggio and Arati Furness from Nachawati Law Group based in Dallas, Texas. The case is presided over by an unnamed judge under Case ID JCCP No. 5188 (UBEE49 023158).
