A man has filed a lawsuit against a major grocery chain, alleging negligence that led to severe injuries. Enio Alexander Cardenas filed the complaint in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco on April 28, 2025, naming Safeway, Inc., Albertsons Companies, Inc., and Christopher Reepen as defendants.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on September 10, 2024, when Cardenas slipped on a slippery substance while walking through the meat department aisle at a Safeway store located at 730 Taraval St, San Francisco. The fall resulted in significant injuries to his right shoulder, hip, and head. Cardenas claims that Safeway and Albertsons failed to maintain their premises in a safe condition and neglected their duty to supervise and train employees adequately. According to the complaint, "Defendants had notice of the dangerous condition because they used and were responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and upkeep of the SUBJECT PREMISES." The plaintiff argues that this negligence directly led to his injuries.

Cardenas further alleges that Christopher Reepen, the store manager at Safeway during the incident, was responsible for ensuring that the premises were safe for customers. The complaint accuses Reepen of failing to conduct regular inspections or address hazardous conditions promptly. It states that "Defendant, CHRISTOPHER REEPEN was directly responsible for executing Safeway policies and personally acted tortuously in an individual capacity."

The lawsuit lists three causes of action: negligence-premises liability against all defendants; negligence-failure to supervise or train against all defendants; and general negligence specifically against Christopher Reepen and unnamed individuals referred to as DOES 1 through 50. Cardenas seeks compensation for general and special damages according to proof presented at trial. He also requests reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to his injuries and any future costs related to ongoing treatment.

Representing Cardenas is attorney Tyler Kobylinski from Morgan & Morgan California LLP. The case is filed under Case No.: CGC-25-624831 with Judge Sahar Enayati presiding over it.
