American Casualty Company of Reading, Pennsylvania has filed a lawsuit against Recology Leasing, Inc. and Joel Reynoso Sr., alleging negligence in a vehicular accident that resulted in injuries to an employee. The complaint was filed on March 26, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco.
The plaintiff, American Casualty Company of Reading, Pennsylvania, claims that it provided workers' compensation insurance to The Arcticom Group (TAG), the employer of Jesus Rodriguez. On June 30, 2023, Rodriguez was involved in an accident on Interstate 80 near Treasure Island Road in San Francisco when a vehicle driven by Reynoso and owned by Recology Leasing collided with his car. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants were negligent in operating and maintaining the vehicle, leading to Rodriguez's injuries.
According to the complaint, "Defendants carelessly, recklessly, and negligently owned, operated, maintained, serviced, and controlled Defendants’ Vehicle," resulting in the collision with Rodriguez's automobile. The plaintiff further contends that Recology Leasing entrusted the vehicle to Reynoso without proper supervision or training. As a result of this alleged negligence, Rodriguez sustained physical injuries for which American Casualty Company has been obligated to pay workers' compensation benefits.
The plaintiff seeks recovery for past and future workers' compensation benefits paid to Rodriguez due to his ongoing claim. They estimate damages exceeding $75,000 and are seeking judgment for these amounts along with interest on benefits paid and costs of suit. The complaint also requests any additional relief deemed appropriate by the court.
Representing American Casualty Company is attorney Patrick M. Quigley from Morales, Fierro & Reeves law firm based in Walnut Creek, California. The case is presided over by judges at the Superior Court of California under Case ID CGC-25-623659.
