In a compelling legal battle, a former employee has taken a Delaware corporation to court over alleged wrongful termination and various labor law violations. The complaint was filed by Erasto Miranda on April 17, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, against Stack Infrastructure, Inc., Jeo Valenzuela, and unnamed defendants. Miranda accuses his former employer of numerous violations including interference with medical leave rights and retaliation for exercising those rights.

The lawsuit outlines a series of grievances stemming from Miranda's employment at Stack Infrastructure beginning in October 2021. During his tenure, Miranda experienced severe depression and anxiety, which he disclosed to his managers early on. Despite taking protected medical leave in 2023 and again in mid-2024 to manage his mental health conditions, Miranda alleges that Stack Infrastructure failed to accommodate his needs upon returning to work. According to the complaint, requests for reasonable accommodations were ignored until another employee’s schedule change incidentally aligned with Miranda’s needs. This led to an improvement in his attendance; however, he was placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) due to prior absences related to his health issues.

Miranda claims that after finally receiving the necessary accommodations and meeting attendance expectations, he was abruptly terminated without written reason on January 15, 2025. The Director of People and Culture at Stack Infrastructure allegedly cited failure to meet PIP terms as the reason for dismissal. The complaint also details how Miranda was forced to work off-the-clock hours without compensation and was denied proper meal and rest breaks.

The lawsuit lists multiple causes of action including CFRA interference and retaliation under California Government Code §12940 et seq., physical disability discrimination, failure to engage in the interactive process required by law for accommodating disabilities, wrongful termination in violation of public policy, and several labor code violations related to wage payments. Furthermore, it highlights that Stack Infrastructure did not provide accurate wage statements or pay owed wages upon termination.

Miranda seeks compensatory damages for lost wages and benefits along with punitive damages for emotional distress caused by the alleged misconduct. He also demands penalties under various labor codes for unpaid wages and inaccurate wage statements. Additionally, he requests injunctive relief preventing further unlawful practices by Stack Infrastructure.

Representing Erasto Miranda are attorneys Kelsey A. Webber, Douglas M. Egbert, and Lena K. Foellmer from Webber & Egbert Employment Law P.C., based in Sacramento. The case is presided over by Judge J. Nguyen under Case No: 25CV463745.
