SAN FRANCISCO – A California man is suing an event management corporation over allegations that it invaded his privacy.
Blake Dugger filed a class-action complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated Feb. 8in the U.S. District Court Eastern District of California against Eventbrite Inc., alleging that the event management corporation knowingly contacted him via an automatic telephone dialing system.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Dec. 17, 2015, he received a text message via an automatic telephone dialing system from the defendant without his consent. The plaintiff alleges that this is a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
The plaintiff seeks for the class $500 per every alleged negligent violation of the TCPA and $1,500 for every alleged knowing or willful violation of the TCPA, plus any other relief the court deems just and proper.
