Company sues over allegedly unauthorized Justin Bieber merchandise

Musica

SACRAMENTO – A Los Angeles company is suing unknown defendants alleging that they knowingly distributed unauthorized merchandise that bear the company's trademarks for an upcoming Justin Bieber concert.

Bravado International Group Merchandising Services Inc. filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court Eastern District of California against John Does 1-100, Jane Does 1-100 and XYZ company, fictitious names, citing trademark infringement and unfair competition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff sells merchandise of musical performing artists at concerts and retail stories. It alleges that it suffered damages to its business and reputation due to its Justin Bieber trademark and similar merchandise being sold by the defendants in relation to a March 15 concert in Sacramento, which may also cause confusion among customers. The plaintiff holds John Does 1-100, Jane Does 1-100 and XYZ company responsible because the defendants allegedly sold unauthorized merchandise that bear the plaintiff's mark.

The plaintiff seeks the following: an order to seize and impound all infringing products, to stop the manufacture, sale, etc. of the products, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just and proper. It is represented by Cara R. Burns of Hicks, Mims, Kaplan & Burns in Santa Monica.
