Couple sues driver over alleged injuries

Carcrash

SACRAMENTO – A California couple is suing over injuries they allegedly sustained after an accident in Placer County.

Erica Pope and Jared Pope filed a complaint on March 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against the U.S. Small Business Administration, David Murphy and Does 1 through 25, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they were injured on March 29, 2013, when their 2004 Volvo was rear-ended by Murphy on Fairway Drive, which caused their vehicle to collide with the center median. The plaintiff holds U.S. Small Business Administration, David Murphy and Does 1 through 25 responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently and carelessly managed, controlled, owned and operated their vehicle, which caused the plaintiffs' injuries.

The plaintiffs seek the following: compensation for medical expenses, loss of earnings and earning capacity, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by Lance J. Curtis and Erik A. Gutierrez of Carter Wolden Curtis LLP in Sacramento.
