Allstate sues federal agency for alleged damages after auto accident

SACRAMENTO – An insurance company is suing a federal agency after an automobile accident.

Allstate Insurance Co. filed a complaint on March 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against United States of America, citing alleged negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 20, 2014, it suffered damages to insured property when a vehicle owned by the U.S. Forest Service and operated by its employee backed into the insured vehicle, causing damage. The plaintiff holds United States of America responsible because its employee allegedly neglected his duty while operating his vehicle.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for damages in the amount of $1,184.32, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just and proper. It is represented by Richard L. Mahfouz II of Clerkin, Sinclair & Mahfouz LLP in San Diego.
