SAN FRANCISCO – A teacher alleges that her employer did not pay her for all hours worked and has filed a class-action lawsuit.
Kaitlin Ridley filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on May 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Kaplan International North America LLC citing violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between 2009 and 2016, she worked for more than 40 hours per work week but was not paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Kaplan International North America LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime wages to its employees, did not provide accurate wage statements, keep accurate payroll records and other counts.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages for unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, statutory penalties, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Matthew D. Carlson of Lichten & Liss-Riordan PC in San Francisco and Shannon Liss-Riordon and Thomas P. Fowler of Lichten & Liss-Riordan PC in Boston.
