SAN FRANCISCO – A San Francisco company has filed suit against a South Korean company and its subsidiaries over allegations the companies used the plaintiff's patented technology without authorization.
GeoVector Corp. filed a complaint on May 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Samsung Electronics Co. LTD, Samsung Electronics America Inc. and Samsung Telecommunications America LLC alleging patent infringement and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it met with the defendants in 2006 regarding the use of patented augmented reality technology for use in the defendants' smartphones. The suit states that the defendants rejected the plaintiff's proposals. The plaintiff holds Samsung Electronics Co. LTD, Samsung Electronics America Inc. and Samsung Telecommunications America LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured and sold several of their products, which incorporated plaintiff's technology, without any license or any authorization from the plaintiff.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, all damages, order for the defendants to pay interest on all damages to plaintiff, compulsory ongoing royalty, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Jack Russo and Christopher Sargent of Computer Law Group LLP in Palo Alto.
