SAN FRANCISCO – A Sonoma County organization is suing the administrator of the United States Small Business Administration over allegations it issued a misleading report.

American Small Business League filed a complaint on May 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Maria Contreras-Sweet, as administrator of the United States Small Business Administration, citing violation of the Small Business Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in April, Contreras-Sweet issued a false goaling report that stated the government has exceeded the minimum 23 percent goal in awarding prime contracts to small businesses. The plaintiff alleges that this purportedly false reporting means that small businesses may not be getting the percentage of contract  required by the Small Business Act.

The plaintiff seeks injunction against the defendant, require the defendant to amend its fiscal year 2015 report, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by Robert E. Belshaw in San Francisco.
