Man alleges Money Loans keeps calling despite asking it to stop

Phone 03

SACRAMENTO – A Vallejo man has filed a class-action complaint against a Las Vegas debt collector alleging it made harassing calls to his cellphone.

Patrick Roberts filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on May 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Money Loans alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in March, he was contacted on his mobile telephone several times by the defendant using an artificial or prerecorded voice. The plaintiff holds Money Loans responsible because the defendant allegedly did not have his consent to contact him and kept calling despite requests to stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunctive relief, $1,500 for each violation as treble damages, $500 for statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by L. Timothy Fisher, Annick M. Persinger and Yeremey O. Krivoshey of Bursor & Fisher PA in Walnut Creek.
