SAN FRANCISCO – A Sebastopol corporation alleges former employees took its trade secrets to start a competing company.
E.D.C. Technologies Inc. filed a complaint on June 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Jim Seidel, Jason Pavlos, Fred Klinzmann, Seidel Associates LLC, Greenbox Energy and Does 1 through 20 alleging violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, unfair competition and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as a result of its software and trade secrets being stolen. The plaintiff holds Jim Seidel, Jason Pavlos, Fred Klinzmann, Seidel Associates, LLC, Greenbox Energy and Does 1 through 20 responsible because the defendants allegedly conspired in order to steal plaintiff's internet-based hot water control and monitoring system to start their own company to directly compete with plaintiff.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, pay all profits derived from their allegedly illegal conduct, punitive and exemplary damages, permanently enjoin the defendant, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just.
