Adams Group Inc., Adams Grain Co. file suit against insurers

Insurance 07

SACRAMENTO – Two Colusa County businesses have filed suit against their insurers alleging they breached their obligations in regards to a lawsuit.

Adams Group Inc. and Adams Grain Co. filed a complaint on June 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Northern Insurance Co. of New York and National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa. alleging breach of contract, unfair business practices and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that the defendants have failed to comply with their obligations to the plaintiffs in regards to litigation filed against them. The plaintiffs hold Northern Insurance Co. of New York and National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. responsible because the defendants allegedly have refused to defend the plaintiffs or engage in settlement negotiations in the litigation.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek order for the defendant to comply with their contractual obligation to plaintiffs, general, consequential, compensatory damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Miles C. Holden of Hanson Bridgett LLP in San Francisco.
