SACRAMENTO – An educational material copyright owner alleges one of its manuals was plagiarized.
Television Education Inc. filed a complaint on June 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division against Contractors Intelligence School Inc., Contractors Publisher Inc. and Does 1-25 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as a result of copies of its educational materials being unlawfully copied and sold. The plaintiff holds Contractors Intelligence School Inc., Contractors Publisher Inc. and Does 1-25 responsible because the defendants allegedly made and distributed knock-off copies of plaintiff's work that also contained the same selection and contents.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant from further infringing plaintiff's patents, pay damages to plaintiff, order for the defendant to submit all infringing copies of plaintiff's work for destruction, punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just.
