LOS ANGELES — A California textile company has filed suit against garment suppliers MIILLA and Does 1-10 for alleged copyright infringement on some of its apparel.

Gold Value International Textile Inc., doing business as Fiesta Fabric, filed a complaint Aug. 11 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the defendants alleging that they violated copyright laws to obtain profits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it was informed that defendant MIILLA and certain DOE defendants created, sold, manufactured and distributed garments comprised of fabric featuring a design that are identical to the plaintiff's designs tagged as 596, 976 and 1946. These actions by the defendant allegedly caused the plaintiff to suffer substantial damages. The plaintiff holds MIILLA and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured and sold garments printed with the copyrighted designs without the plaintiff's knowledge or consent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks that defendants be enjoined from infringing on the plaintiff’s copyrights in any manner, statutory damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and interest of suit and other relief as the court deems proper. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs, Trevor W. Barrett and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger / Burroughs in Venice.
