Los Angeles County resident alleged to owe more than $2,000 for student loan

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County woman is alleged to have defaulted on a student loan in 1996.

United States of America, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, filed a complaint on Sept. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Diane R. Williams, also known as Diane R. Griffin, alleging that the individual failed to settle her debt with plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Williams failed to pay the principal amount of her debt with plaintiff plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $2,773.31 plus interest of $2,267.01 with further interest at 9 percent per annum accruing at 68 cents per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull APC in Northridge.
