LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County woman alleges her insurer wrongfully denied coverage of a medically necessary surgery.
Aubrey Cohorst filed a complaint on Oct. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Anthem Health Plans of Kentucky Inc. and Does 1-10 citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered monetary damages of $140,434.25 for having to pay for her own surgery. The plaintiff holds Anthem Health Plans of Kentucky Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to provide coverage for plaintiff's medically necessary surgery.
The plaintiff seeks benefits payable to plaintiff to reimburse her, including total of the medical bills plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Christian J. Garris of Law Offices of Christian J. Garris in Los Angeles.
