SAN FRANCISCO – Passengers are suing JetBlue Airways Corp. over allegations that they were injured on a flight from Boston to Sacramento because of turbulence.
Rhonda Lynam and Theresa Lynam filed a complaint on Jan. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against JetBlue Airways Corp. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 11, 2016, they were thrown violently about inside an aircraft owned by the defendant and sustained multiple physical injuries, including extreme fear, anguish, horror and mental distress. The plaintiffs hold JetBlue Airways Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to foresee the dangerous route it was taking, failed to take a prudent course and divert to a safer route, and failed to warn passengers to use their safety belts during heavy turbulence.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant, general and special damages, costs of suit, interest, and further relief as the court may deem proper. They are represented by Gerald C. Sterns of Sterns and Walker in Oakland.
