Consumer files class action against Debt.com over alleged solicitation calls

SACRAMENTO – A Rocklin man has filed a class-action suit against a debt service company over allegations it unlawfully contacted him for marketing purposes.

Jeff Lingle filed a complaint individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, on Feb. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Debt.com LLC and Does 1-10 citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in March 2016, the defendant unlawfully contacted him to solicit its services. He alleges his number has been registered on the National Do-Not-Call Registry since 2010.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in his favor, $500 in statutory damages for every violation, $1,500 in treble damages for every violation, and all other relief that the court deems just.
