Consumer accuses Papa John's of sending him unwanted text messages

Phone 03

LOS ANGELES – A Beverly Hills consumer claims Papa John's sent him unsolicited text messages without his consent.

Jonathan Anozie filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Papa John's International Inc. citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in March 2016, he received automated text messages from the defendant. He alleges he does not have a prior existing relationship with the defendant. The plaintiff holds Papa John's International Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to send the plaintiff text messages after he replied "stop" to discontinue the messages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $500, treble damages, and further relief this court grants. He is represented by Trinette G. Kent of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Connecticut.
