LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County designer alleges she was not given full credit for designing and painting a gown.

Anahit Etemadi filed a complaint on Feb. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Metropolitan Fashion Week LLC, Eduardo Khawam, Julie Danforth and Does 1-25 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered harm and injury as a result of defendants' unlawful conduct of copyright infringement by refusing to give credit to plaintiff for creating, designing and painting Marilyn Monroe on a gown. The suit states the defendants exhibited the painted gown in fashion shows and various media platforms and also sold gowns with the design.

The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Fashion Week LLC, Khawam, Danforth and Does 1-25 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to acknowledge credit owed to plaintiff and obtained accolade and profit at the expense of plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, injunctive relief, impound all infringing copies, accounting of all profits, statutory damages, costs of suit, attorneys' fees, interest, and additional relief as is just. She is represented by Navid Soleymani and Navid Yadegar of Yadegar, Minoofar & Soleymani LLP in Los Angeles.
