Phone 08

SACRAMENTO – A Butte County consumer alleges Paypal frequently called her over an alleged debt.

Jenni Hodges filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on March 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Paypal Inc. and Does 1 through 10 citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in July 2016, she suffered damages from receiving several collection calls from the defendants. The plaintiff holds Paypal Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly called the plaintiff numerous times without prior consent, used an automatic telephone dialing system, and called with such frequency as to be considered harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon and Meghan E. George of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Woodland Hills.
