Medical malpractice 05

SAN FRANCISCO – A Vermont man has filed a suit against several pharmaceutical companies over allegations two prescription drugs caused damages.

Justin Champion filed a complaint on April 3 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., also known as Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., et al. alleging negligence, failure to warn and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered physical injuries from taking defendants' drugs Risperdal and/or Invega, including rapid weight gain, hyperprolactinemia and other issues. The plaintiff holds Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., also known as Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff of the potential harmful effects of taking the drugs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, medical expenses, consequential damages, disgorgement of profits, restitution, punitive damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Dale B. Ratner of Marc J. Bern & Partners LLP in San Francisco.
