FRESNO – A disabled man employed by the city of Fresno alleges he was denied job opportunities because of his disability.
Robert Mesel filed a complaint on June 20 in the Fresno County Superior Court against city of Fresno, Jim Schaad, Brian Marshall, Elizabeth Watlington, Patricia Eichhorn and Does 1-50 alleging that they violated the Fair Employment Housing Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he is a victim of discriminatory practices because of his disability. He alleges that he has been employed by the city of Fresno Transportation Department for 30 years and was denied a job because "he did not fit neatly into the city's culture" because of his disability.
The plaintiff holds the city of Fresno, Schaad, Marshall, Watlington, Eichhorn and Does 1-50 responsible because he has allegedly suffered and will continue to suffer damages in terms of lost wages, lost bonus hours and benefits.
The plaintiff seeks all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and costs in the action and such other proper and just relief. He is representing himself.
