LOS ANGELES — A textile company is suing a California competitor, alleging copyright infringement.

Standard Fabrics International Inc. filed a complaint Sept. 21 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Italian Fabrics International Inc. alleging the defendant illegally distributed an intellectual property without authority from the owner.

According to the complaint, Standard Fabrics sustained and will continue to sustain irreparable injury, from the defendants’ unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and exploitation of plaintiff’s copyrighted two-dimensional artwork for use on textiles titled "6981”.

The plaintiff alleges Italian Fabrics obtained profit at the expense of Standard Fabrics, and introduced an infringing product into the stream of commerce.

Standard Fabrics International seeks trial by jury, all profits from infringement, statutory damages, attorney fees, pre-judgment interest, costs of action, and all relief the court deems just. It is represented by attorneys Scott A. Burroughs, Trevor W. Barrett and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice, California.
