Passenger blames cruise line for injuries aboard ship

Cruise 06

LOS ANGELES — An Illinois woman is suing Princess Cruise Lines, alleging negligence led to her suffering injuries.

Katherine L. Dachman filed a complaint Nov. 8 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Princess Cruise Lines Ltd. alleging failure to provide and maintain a safe and seaworthy vessel.

According to the complaint, on June 4, 2016, Dachman was aboard the cruise vessel Royal Princess as a fare paying passenger. The suit says Dachman was walking along a passageway on the deck, when she tripped on a raised portion of a stainless seam. As a result of defendant's negligence, Dachman says she fell and was injured in her health, strength and activity, and suffered from shock and disability.

The plaintiff alleges Princess Cruise Lines failed to remedy a passageway on the deck that was dangerous and defective, failed to maintain and inspect the passageway, and failed to warn passengers of the dangerous condition.

Dachman seeks trial by jury, general damages of more than $75,000, damages for medical expenses and loss of earnings, interest and costs of suit. She is represented by attorney Charles D. Naylor of Law Offices of Charles D. Naylor in Long Beach.
