FRESNO — An agricultural commodities business is suing a former employee, alleging breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, conversion and breach of duty.
Olam Americas Inc. filed a complaint Dec. 5 in Fresno County Superior Court against William Lee Robinson and Does 1-50, alleging the sharing of confidential information.
According to the complaint, between July 3-Nov. 28, 2017, Robinson was employed by Olam Americas as an IT systems and voice administrator. The suit says Olam was harmed and will continue to suffer harm due to the wrongful conduct of Robinson. The lawsuit states he threatened Olam with decrypting and publicly releasing usernames and passwords for Olam's computer system, and otherwise misappropriated trade secrets belonging to the plaintiff and violating a signed confidentiality agreement.
The plaintiff alleges Robinson breached his duty under the agreement to protect Olam's confidential information, and wrongfully misappropriated the plaintiff's trade secret information for his own benefit and the detriment of the plaintiff.
Olam Americas seeks trial by jury, damages, a temporary restraining order, preliminary and permanent injunction, punitive and exemplary damages, attorney fees and cost of suit. It is represented by attorney Susan K. Hatmaker of Hatmaker Law Group in Fresno.
