Widow blames medical providers for husband's death

Medical malpractice 01

FRESNO — A surviving wife and children are suing physicians and a medical team, alleging medical negligence and wrongful death.

Graciela Buso, surviving spouse, and Karla Buso, Maria Buso, Pedro Buso and Miguel Buso, surviving biological children of decedent Pedro Buso, filed a complaint Dec. 5 in Fresno County Superior Court against Dr. Kamran Aflatoon, Dr. Nagi Edward Zaki, Valley Health Team and Does 1 to 10, alleging the defendants failed to provide the proper care and medical treatment needed by a patient.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 24, 2016, Pedro Buso became a patient under the care of the defendants until his death Sept. 6, 2016. His surviving family alleges he died because the defendants failed to recognize his injuries to the cervical spine and throat..

As a result, the family says it has suffered the loss of love, support, society and compassion of Pedro Buso and sustained medical expenses and general damages.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to recognize injuries to the patient's cervical spine and throat during and after the surgery and failed to promptly address the cause of Buso's lack of breath.

The Busos seek trial by jury, judgment in excess of $25,000 for compensatory damages, costs of suit and all fair, just and equitable relief. They are represented by attorney Edward L. Fanucchi of Quinland, Kershaw & Fanucchi LLP in Fresno.
