FRESNO — A cyclist is suing a motorist, alleging the driver's negligence caused a collision with the plaintiff.

Sean Hatcher filed a complaint Dec. 12, in Fresno County Superior Court against Sandra Parisi and Does 1-20, alleging failure to exercise the standard care and skill required in operating a vehicle.

According to the complaint, on May 1, 2016, Hatcher was riding his bicycle eastbound on the Fresno-Clovis Rail Trail through Cedar Avenue in Fresno when he was hit by a 2015 Ford Escape driven by Parisi. The suit says Hatcher was injured and suffered wage losses, plus hospital and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Parisi failed to safely operate a vehicle so as not to cause damage, failed to pay attention to traffic and keep a proper lookout for other individuals on the road.

Hatcher seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $25,000, costs of court and all just and fair relief. He is represented by attorney Steven S. Dias of Wild, Carter & Tipton APC in Fresno.
