LOS ANGELES — A photographer is suing a conservation group, alleging copyright infringement.

Paul Reiffer filed a complaint Jan. 3 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Fox River Conservation Partners LLC, alleging the defendant violated laws through the unauthorized distribution of an intellectual property.

According to the complaint, Reiffer suffered damages to his business, reputation and good will from Fox River's unlawful copy and distribution of the plaintiff's copyrighted photograph titled "Hollywood Panoramic" for purposes of advertising and promoting its own business, without the necessary permission or authority from Reiffer.

The plaintiff alleges Fox River Conservation Partners caused confusion among consumers as to the true origin and affiliation of the infringing photograph, and obtained profit at the expense of the plaintiff.

Reiffer seeks trial by jury, actual damages, profits attributable to the infringement, statutory damages, attorney fees, costs of suit and all relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Jonah A. Grossbardt of Schneider Rothman Intellectual Property Law Group PLLC in Los Angeles.
