Motorist blames vehicle owner, operator for crash

FRESNO — A motorist is suing a vehicle owner and operator, alleging negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Jennifer Le filed a complaint Dec. 21 in Fresno County Superior Court against Annamarie Rivas and Charles Powell, alleging the defendants entrusted and operated vehicle in careless manner, causing collision and injury to another motorist.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 19, 2016, Le she was driving northbound on Clovis Avenue in Clovis. The suit says Rivas, driving a car owned by Powell, made an illegal U-turn and collided with Le's vehicle.  

As a result of the incident, Le says, she was seriously injured and required medical attention and treatment. 

The plaintiff alleges Rivas failed to be attentive while driving on a public road, failed to follow traffic rules and failed to keep a careful lookout.

Le seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages in excess of $25,000, plus costs of suit and all fair, just and equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Nathan S. Miller of Miller & Ayala LLP in Fresno.
