LOS ANGELES — A disabled man is suing a Los Angeles property owner, alleging disability discrimination.
Soo Oh, who requires use of a cane, filed a complaint Jan. 15 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against First California Investment LLC and Does 1-10, alleging violation of the American with Disabilities Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, this January, Oh went to defendant's property at 4021 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles to patronize the business. The suit says Oh encountered problems in the parking lot as the premises had no procedure policy in place to maintain parking spaces reserved for persons with disabilities.
As a result, Oh says he was denied full and equal access to the facility, which caused him difficulty and frustration.
The plaintiff alleges First California Investment failed to maintain working and usable conditions required to provide ready access to persons with disabilities.
Oh seeks trial by jury, actual damages and a statutory minimum of $4,000, attorney fees, litigation expenses and costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Jong Yun KIm of Law Offices of Jong Yun Kim in Los Angeles.
