LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles corporation is suing a New York clothing business, alleging copyright infringement.

Urban Fab Corp. filed a complaint Jan. 25 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Mint Clothing Co. Ltd. of Mattituck, New York, Joanna Mazzella et al., alleging they distributed an intellectual property without authority from the owner.

According to the complaint, Urban Fab has sustained and will continue to sustain irreparable injury, from the defendants’ unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and exploitation of the plaintiff’s copyrighted two-dimensional artwork for use on textiles titled "UBF6901” for profit.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants manufactured, imported and/or distributed fabric and/or garments comprised of a fabric featuring a design that is identical or substantially similar to Urban Fab's design, and obtained profit at the expense of the plaintiff.

Urban Fab seeks trial by jury, all profits from infringement, plus all losses, attorney’ fees, interest, costs of litigation and all equitable relief the court deems proper. It is represented by attorney C. Yong Jeong of Jeong & Likens LC in Los Angeles.
