Patient accuses San Francisco hospital of negligent care

Medical malpractice 05

SAN DIEGO — A patient is suing a San Francisco hospital, alleging medical negligence.

Ronald Satish Emrit filed a complaint Feb. 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, alleging failure to exercise standard care and skill required of medical facilities.

According to the complaint, in September 2017, Emrit checked into Zuckerberg after becoming depressed from a stay at another hospital. The suit says Emrit suffered damages as a result of the recklessness of the defendant in its lack of care and treatment of the plaintiff.

The plaintiff alleges Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital failed to send Emrit to any psychiatric hospital or acute diversion unit, despite knowing that the plaintiff was depressed and suicidal.

Emrit seeks trial by jury, damages of $250,000, plus remedy of injunction to stay indefinitely in the defendant's mental health section/psychiatric ward until the social workers can place Emrit in an acute diversion unit. He is representing himself.
