SAN DIEGO — A San Diego County cruise ship passenger is suing Royal Caribbean, alleging negligence in keeping a dangerous condition aboard the vessel.
Daniel A. Skalko filed a complaint Feb. 13 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD, and Does 1 through 30, the defendant failed to warn of any dangerous conditions that were known or could have been known by reasonable inspection.
According to the complaint, on Feb. 17, 2017, while aboard the Royal Caribbean vessel Azamara Quest, and sitting at the table on the deck, a steel ladder suddenly fell and hit Skalko him on the back of the head.
As a result, Skalko says sustained severe physical injury, difficulty sleeping because of neck pain and blurred vision.
The plaintiff alleges Royal Caribbean Cruises failed to secure a steel ladder, standing behind a piece of cloth and unseen to the passengers, and failed to warn passengers of the dangerous condition.
Skalko seeks trial by jury, general damages in in excess of $75,000, plus medical expenses, prejudgment interest, costs of suit, and all other such relief the court deems proper. He is represented by attorney Alvin M. Gomez of Gomez Law Group, PC in Carlsbad.
