SAN FRANCISCO – The surviving children of a man who died after being struck by a San Mateo County Transit District bus are seeking damages.

Serenity Woods, LaJean Woods and David Woods Jr. filed a complaint on March 12 in the Superior Court of California - County of San Francisco against San Mateo County Transit District, MV Transportation Inc. Chi Tong Vong, and Does 1-10, alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug, 31, 2017, David Anthony Woods was a pedestrian lawfully in the roadway in Redwood City when Vong, who was driving a bus owned by San Mateo Transit and MV Transportation, collided with him. As a result, David Anthony Woods suffered serious and injuries that ultimately resulted in his death the same day.

The plaintiffs holds San Mateo County Transit District, MV Transportation Inc. Vong and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly carelessly, negligently and recklessly maintained, owned, operated, manufactured, repaired, equipped, entrusted, and/or controlled the bus so as to cause the bus collided with an individual, resulting in an untimely death.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for compensatory damages in an amount in excess of $25,000, plus costs of suit, and for such relief as is fair, just and equitable. They are represented by Issa J. Michael and Alexis L. Davidson of The Michael Law Firm in San Francisco.
