Surviving heirs claim decedent was exposed to asbestos from Owens-Illinois Inc., others' products

Asbestos 09

SAN FRANCISCO – The surviving heirs of a late man who worked as an insulator allege their decedent's death was caused by asbestos-related injuries.

Eric Johnson and Jeffrey Johnson, as successors-in-interest to and as wrongful death heirs of Robert Johnson, filed a complaint on April 2 in the Superior Court of California - County of San Francisco against Owens-Illinois Inc.; Asbestos Corporation Limited, Crown Cork & Seal Co. Inc., et al. alleging negligence, products liability and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Robert Johnson died April 4, 2017, from asbestosis, a condition related to exposure to asbestos and asbestos-containing products. The suit states Robert Johnson was exposed to asbestos during his career from 1951 to 1987 at various locations in California as an insulator.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants defectively designed asbestos and asbestos-containing products and failed to adequately warn potential safety hazards of asbestos and asbestos-containing products.

The plaintiffs seek judgment for general damages, medical and related expenses, exemplary or punitive damages, costs of suit, and for such other further relief as the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by Alan R. Brayton, David R. Donadio, James P. Nevin and Nancy T. Williams of Brayton & Purcell LLP in Novato.
