Republic Supply Co., others named in wrongful death suit over alleged asbestos exposure

Asbestos 08

SAN FRANCISCO – The heirs of man alleges his lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos.

Daniel Daniels, as successor-in-interest to and as wrongful death heir of Vernon Daniels, deceased; and Joni Holbrook and Francis Daniels as wrongful death heirs of Vernon Daniels, deceased filed a complaint on May 14 in the Superior Court of the state of California against Republic Supply Co., Thomas Dee Engineering Co., J.T. Thorpe & Son Inc., et al. alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Vernon Daniels died on May 16, 2017. The suit states that the defendants are engaged in the business of researching, manufacturing and/or installing asbestos or products containing asbestos.

The suit states the decedent was diagnosed with lung cancer in February 2017 and previously had been diagnosed with asbestos-related pleural disease in December 2014.

The plaintiffs hold Republic Supply Co., Thomas Dee Engineering Co., J.T. Thorpe & Son Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to adequately warn individuals of the potential safety hazards of asbestos and asbestos-containing products.

The plaintiffs seek judgment for general, exemplary and punitive damages; costs of suit; and for such other and further relief as the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by Alan R. Brayton, David R. Donadio, James P. Nevin and Nancy T. Williams of Brayton Purcell LLP in Novato.
