SAN FRANCISCO – A man alleges he was struck while standing on a curb by an Uber driver.

Ignacio Gutirrez Sanchez and Maria Chavez Alvarez filed a complaint on May 17 in the Superior Court of California - County of San Francisco against Uber Technologies Inc., Rasier LLC, Raiser-CA LLC and Alemtsehay Hailu Gudeta alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on May 20, 2016, Gutirrez Sanchez was standing behind a parked vehicle on the curb when he was allegedly struck by defendant Gudeta's 2008 Toyota vehicle. During the incident, the suit states Gudeta was acting in the course and scope of her employment for defendants Uber Technologies and Rasier.

As a result, Ignacio Gutierrez Sanchez claims he sustained serious injuries causing Maria Gutierrez Sanchez to lose his love, companionship, comfort, care and assistance.

The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because defendant Gudeta allegedly was negligent by not paying attention and was driving at an unsafe speed for the conditions of road.

The plaintiffs seek judgment for compensatory damages according to proof, interest according to law and other relief as ordered by the court. They are represented by Andje M. Medina of Altair Law LLP in San Francisco.
