FRESNO – A patron at a Monterey bar is suing the bar and another invitee after he was punched.

Zachary G. Smith filed a complaint on May 31 in the Fresno County Superior Court against The Crown & Anchor Pubs LTD, doing business as Crown & Anchor; Brandon McClain Jennings; and Does 1-25 alleging negligence, premises liability and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 10, he was at Crown & Anchor's bar in Monterey when he was punched by defendant Jennings, causing him to sustain severe injuries and severe emotional distress.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because Crown & Anchor allegedly failed to employ persons and security that were properly trained or supervised in their respective job duties and failed to maintain a safe environment free of violence and crime.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory and punitive damages according to proof. He is represented by Warren R. Paboojian and Nolan C. Kane of Baradat & Paboojian Inc. in Fresno.
