LOS ANGELES – A San Luis Obispo County contractor is alleged to have failed to pay a subcontractor for work on a federal project.
United States, for the use of Franzen-Hill Corp., filed a complaint on June 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Dawson Federal Inc., Westchester Fire Insurance Co. and Does 1 to 10 citing the Miller Act Bond and alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, on April 13, 2016, Franzen-Hill was subcontracted by Dawson for mechanical work. Franzen-Hill Corp. alleges it has not been paid by Dawson and that it is owed more than $400,000.
The plaintiffs seek judgment for reasonable attorneys' fees, costs of suit, damages in the amount of $420,551.37 and such further and other relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by Shaaron A. Bangs and E. Scott Holbrook Jr. of Crawford & Bangs LLP in Covina.
